A former Navy SEAL and SWAT Team Member, is currently a Law Enforcement Officer and Firearms Instructor for a local police department.

DESCRIPTION

This is a 1.5-hour workshop, limited to 3 students. The primary goal of this workshop is to introduce (if needed) the students to defensive shooting fundamentals and move on to more advanced tactics for personal and home defense.  The students will improve their firearms skills and attitude, essential to surviving a lethal threat or confrontation.

Instruction topics may include (based on skill level): Safety and Range Etiquette Review, Defensive Shooting Techniques, Tactical Loading Considerations and Techniques, Use of Cover, Draw to the Ready Position and Use of the Ready Position, engaging multiple threats, low light shooting, hostage rescue, wounded shooter drills, equipment malfunctions and moving targets. Elements of personal awareness and verbal intervention will also be discussed and practiced.

Equipment you will need:

  • Handgun (2 magazines or a revolver with speed loaders).
  • Holster and magazine holders. We will be working mainly from the position of concealment.  Have a good quality holster.
  • 200 rounds of ammunition.
  • Eye protection – clear glasses.
  • Ear protection – Standard or electronic ear muffs or foam ear plugs.
  • Clothes: Comfortable clothing that you can move freely in, along with closed toed shoes.  Please no “V” necks or other low cut shirts.

Please have all the above needed materials before the day of your workshop.

NO LIVE AMMUNITION OR LOADED FIREARMS IN THE CLASSROOM AREA!

Please keep ammunition separate from your firearms and DO NOT bring ANY live ammunition into the classroom area at any time.  Even if you are licensed to carry concealed; no exceptions!  You will be instructed on when to retrieve your firearms, ammunition and other shooting supplies.  Please leave ALL FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION LOCKED IN YOUR VEHICLE.  If you are in need of equipment for your workshop at Down Range, we have a full line of accessories to meet your needs.  Ask about discounts for accessories and ammunition purchased for your workshop.
